We had his song "Longer" played at our wedding.
Loved "Leader of the Band" and "Another Old Lang Syne" too. It was cancer that took his life.
Remember on the comic strip "Bloom County" when our favorite penguin Opus began dating a blonde bombshell. She tells him that Opus reminds her of Dan Fogelberg. Opus says "Who's Dan Fogelburp?" I've called him that since the day I read that strip. Please see the correction on this strip description in the comments

a) Leader of the Band and Auld Lang Syne are the same song
b) The Bloom County strip in question had Lola telling Opus she had two secrets, the first that she had a tattoo of Dan Fogelberg (to which Opus exclaims "Who is Dan Fogelburp?" ), the second secret being the location of said tattoo.
The malapropism coming from Lola makes no sense and isn't as funny.
Thanks for the comment anonymous and aren't you just a bundle of sunshine today. I stand corrected on point number deux, but you are wrong on letter A. Leader of the Band was a tribute to Dan's Band Director Father in Illinois. Auld Lang Syne is his remembrance of a chance encounter with an old flame on a Christmas eve.
